How To Film At Your Home During Singapore's Circuit Breaker & Have Us Help You With Editing!18/4/2020
Desire to maintain the connection with your clients but can't meet up in person due to safe distancing measures? Can't do anything productive for your clients during Singapore's circuit breaker due to the limited movements? Not really!
As a self-employed or business owner, an educational video is an excellent way to add value to your existing clients, and style yourself as a subject matter expert to reach out to a broader audience during this period! Picture your target audiences, come up with an interesting topic that speaks to the hearts, address their needs and concerns! Start work on the main points for your script, and get ready to roll! 1) Adjust Phone Or Camera Properly First, get a camera or a phone and place it at a correct angle using some form of support such as a tripod, selfie stick, phone holder. Even if you don't own a camera, many high-end mobile phones nowadays can do filming video without sacrificing too much on quality. If you have a wireless earbud with a built-in microphone, consider using it to capture better audio quality. 2) Find A Neat Background Second, ensure that you have a neat background setting for recording, such as a white wall preferably. Remove any unnecessary clutter that will distract your audience, or divert attention away from you while you are presenting! 3) Turn On All Lights Third, good lighting is a critical factor that makes your video look more professional. Ensure that all available lighting is switched on, make use of natural light reflections from the windows to brighten the scene. Especially take note of the lighting on your face, and avoid making the mistake of filming yourself against a strong backlight. 4) Minimise All Distractions Fourth, remember to minimise any distractions. With family members stuck with you within the confine of the home, it is easy for interruptions to happen if they're unaware of you filming. Either coordinate and notify them of the time you set aside for filming, or make your recording during quiet times when everyone else is resting. 5) Sit Up Straight And Maintain Eye Contact Fifth, make sure you sit upright in a proper posture before you start recording. Nothing speaks unprofessionalism than poor body language such as a slouch. While speaking, try to present the main points of your script naturally without sounding like you're regurgitating. Place a laptop, phone or tablet in front to refer to your script if need be, but otherwise maintain eye contact with the camera throughout as if you're speaking directly to your audience. Once you've finished recording, you can publish it as it is, but having edits such as appropriate cuts, transitions, titles, captions and subtitles go a long way to projecting a more positive impression of yourself to your target audience. While free software, for example, iMovie on a Mac can help with simple edits, a more professional looking video can be made using paid video editing software. This includes Adobe Premiere Pro available for both Windows or Mac, and Apple Final Cut Pro X available only on the Mac but this will require more time and effort with a steep learning curve to do it by yourself! Alternatively, you can always send the footages to the professionals such as us, at AffinityMotions, to assist you with editing at affordable rates starting from $300! We hope you've learnt a thing or two about doing filming at home during this circuit breaker period, stay safe, and we look forward to serving you if you require assistance! Best Regards, Ryan Co-founder, AffinityMotions

It's week 2 of Singapore's Circuit Breaker, pat yourself on the back for surviving week 1. While it's hard to continue business as usual with so many restrictions in place, hope that everyone is holding up well and using this time productively to reflect and plan your business strategy. How can you continue to build your brand awareness while staying home? Here are five video ideas you can use to continue growing your brand awareness from the comfort of home!
1) Do Educational Videos Content is king, especially engaging video content when everyone is stuck at home with little else to do. People are continually searching for new content to consume and pass their time, and if you can create videos that serve to educate or entertain consumers on topics close to their hearts, you are likely to win yourself new fans to your brand. 2. Profile Video With the pace of work slowing down, there's no better time for some thoughtful planning for the future. Reflect on what are your strengths and work on weakness while preparing for the day when work eventually resumes. Start on video scripting and storyboarding for an introductory video of what makes your business, service or product special, so you are ready to start filming immediately and market your business ahead of your competition once things normalise! 3. Live Video Streaming Although meet-ups are impossible, continue to engage your community through live video. Especially if you already have a following, it's the easiest and cheapest way to share your views on the market, stay connected with your existing clients and reach out to new clients with timely live video updates during this rapidly evolving climate. 4. Expand your Social Networks With people continuously find new ways to connect, video is increasingly getting popular across all social platforms and getting the highest priority to display on the feed of your followers. If you're already on Facebook, why not reach out to new audiences and demographics by setting up a new profile on platforms to repost exisiting videos you're not currently on? Social media is more than only just Facebook with other platforms such as Instagram IGTV, Youtube or even Tik-Tok that's gaining popularity among the young or young at heart if you're game enough! 5. Repurpose Old Videos Your audience quickly gets bored if you keep using the same videos or sharing generic content. Even if it's not possible for you to head outside and film, old videos can be re-edited into a more engaging format, or old footages repurposed together with new stock footages to keep your content fresh and retain your audience's attention! We hope that we have given you some good ideas you can immediately use to grow your business from home! Get in touch if you need any help with any of the above, as we're still available throughout this period working from home! Best Regards, Ryan Co-founder, AffinityMotions

Tip #1 Align Camera Angle
Let the camera capture your face and part of your upper body, aligning the angle towards your eyes. Tip #2 Neat Background Tidy up your background so that it looks neat and non-distracting, or use a clean virtual background if your chosen platform supports it. Tip #3 Good Lighting The appeal of a video call is being able to be both seen and heard. Set up your call in a quiet part of your home with good lighting and make sure you're not facing against a strong backlight such as windows. Tip #4 Minimise Distractions Communicate to people around you to minimise interruptions during your call. Turn off any unnecessary gadgets, applications on your computer or any other possible distractions. Tip #5 Upright Posture & Positive Attitude Don't slouch when taking the call as it makes you look lazy. Sit up straight to exude a positive vibe, look more energised and speak better during the video call. Tip #6 Maintain Eye Contact Come across as trustworthy and confident by making constant eye contact with the person you are speaking too even though you may be meeting virtually! Hope that you have found these six tips useful for your video calls. Keep healthy and stay safe! Although we're all stuck at home, there's much we can do to create a organised plan and routine to keep us productive working from home!
However, be assured that our team is still available and contactable during our usual office hours for enquiries, and we are still able to offer partial services from home. This include video editing, as well as do pre-production planning such as scripting and storyboarding for future shoots once the COVID-19 situation has improved and safe distancing measures are relaxed.
How can you use your time at home to continue reaching out to potential clients despite everyone being cooped up?
